All hail those that are kings and queens of the sketchy breakfast routine. The first of their names, kings and queens of chowing the left overs from last night because #laziness (For those who are confused, that’s a total Game Of Thrones Reference) and you don’t want to make the clean pots dirty again (Only South Africans would understand the issue regarding “the pots” lol, but really where are the pots?). Whether you are an athlete, fun runner or just a normal human being going through life comfortably. You can all benefit from an easy healthy breakfast without wasting any additional time in the kitchen when you are in that morning rush.

For years, nutrition experts have said that a healthy breakfast is a key start to the day. Not only do we think and perform better on the job, they tell us, it supports our well-being in many other ways. Here are some breakfast ideas that are quick and easy that I think you will like.

Avocado Toast

Don’t even be on that shade! Avocado’s are cheap especially if you are in Durban and bread is right there, and toasters are super affordable! And everyone has access to it no matter your budget!

There’s a benefit to starting your day with creamy avocado toast: The fruit is loaded with fiber and cholesterol-lowering monounsaturated fats. Plus, the whole thing is ready in just three simple steps: Mash the avocado onto toasted bread, drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, and then sprinkle with salt and red pepper flakes.

Here is a breakdown on what you will need:

Ingredients:

-2 slices whole-grain bread, or brown bread (you don’t need to be fancy)

-1 avocado,

-1 tablespoon olive oil (or if you don’t have olive oil you can skip this part altogether)

-1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

-Salt

-1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Step 1

Top the bread with the avocado. Mash the avocado lightly with a fork.

Step 2

Drizzle with the oil and lemon juice.

Step 3

Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon salt and the red pepper.

And there you go! A healthy quick filling breakfast that is ready in minutes!

Almond Butter, Yogurt, and Fruit Parfait

Don’t even let that last word trick you into thinking this is unnecessarily fancy, its really yogurt and fruit in a cup. Its sweet and super easy to make!

What you will need is:

  • 3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt (Or Just plain yogurt)
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter (Or Peanut Butter if you don’t have)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup halved grapes
  • 3 strawberries, quartered (You can get a tray of these for under R12 at Pick n Pay)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped roasted almonds (Or get a pack of normal unsalted peanuts and raisins if you don’t have almonds lying around)

How to Make It

Step 1

Whisk together the yogurt, almond butter, and honey in a medium bowl until smooth.

Step 2

Layer with the grapes, strawberries, and roasted almonds.

Yogurt With Grapes and Granola

You’ll have time for this three-ingredient breakfast on even your busiest mornings. To make this parfait (There’s that word again) to go, pack it in an insulated coffee cup or thermos.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups plain low-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 cup halved seedless red and green grapes
  • 1/2 cup granola

How to Make It

Step 1

Divide the yogurt between 2 bowls. Dividing evenly, top with the grapes and granola.
