I was fortunate enough to be approached by Daniel Wellington about collaborating on their latest designs a month ago, and my first reaction was “wow” I hadn’t expected a brand like that to contact me about something like this and I was onboard from the first line, what I could not expect was how much working with them would change the way I see luxury accessories.
So Daniel Wellington is a Swedish watch company, founded in 2011 by Filip Tysander, headquartered in central Stockholm in Sweden. The watches are designed in Sweden and use a quartz movement made by Miyota, a Japanese automatic wristwatch movement that is used by the best watch makers out there such as Bernhardt Watches, Camel, Citizen, Dugena, Festina, Jacques Lemans, Kyboe, Invicta, Lip, Laco, Sternglas, TW Steel and Perseo.
In February 2017, Daniel Wellington was named the fastest growing company in Europe. The company made $230 million in revenue and $111.5 million in profit in 2016. A reputation like this, made my heart skip a beat and race ahead at a rate of knots, and when I got my package from the, oh my word was it fantastic! I will be doing an unboxing very much soon, and have a video up, but what I can tell you is how amazing the product was, among the many goodies, what I liked the most is the Cornwall strap that came with the flawlessly minimalist watch.
As an active and generally casual person, I shy away from the leathers, as it seems too formal for everyday use, and the Cornwall strap is flexible and versatile with a lot of my outfits, and as a daily grinder it just works! Paired with the silver and white bracelet, it just makes my whole look come right every time!
